Alsatian=German Shepherd
[edit]1930-1977 antigerman Ressentiments in England replace the Name of German Shepherd in „Alsatian Wolf Dog (Elsaesser Wolfshund)“ 2003:C3:E735:A509:FC59:310:88C7:5B29 (talk) 21:56, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
Bane and Hera
[edit]Can the dogs Bane and Hera, two Presa Canarios involved in the 2001 mauling be added on this page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:18D:4700:2D30:C5CC:56EB:51E6:E739 (talk) 22:30, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
We should create separate pages for the most loyal & heroic dogs in the list
[edit]I think they deserve their own pages (with hypertexts linked to this main page) and the world needs to know about these legendary dogs. I created Canelo and kindly request from any dog lover Wikipedians out there to contribute making the others. Nir007H (talk) 08:14, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
Notability criteria for dogs
[edit]Morghem's .500 Nitro Express, an American Pit Bull Terrier, earned several United Kennel Club titles in his first campaign from the following sports: dock jumping, weight pulling, rally obedience and Show Champion. During the campaign he also passed Canine Good Citizen and USTTA temperament testing, while acquiring 70 points in the American Pulling Alliance with three first place and three second place wins.
Does this dog meet basic notability criteria? The single source is unexceptional and does not indicate either that this dog is particularly well-known or that this dog has achieved more than similar (non-notable) sport dogs. SkrikerandTrash (talk) 08:00, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
- I think there are a lot here that could get trimmed, but this one is definitely a good example. It doesn't even seem to get named in the linked source? Andrew Gray (talk) 18:29, 22 January 2025 (UTC)
- Reading through the list a lot of these feel very incidental - "dog is in TV show", news story about a dog at a funeral, etc. Some lists like this have a (informal?) "must have an article" inclusion criteria, and I wonder if that would be appropriate here. Andrew Gray (talk) 18:39, 22 January 2025 (UTC)
- I'd support a proposal to apply that criterion here, Andrew Gray; or, failing that, a proposal to summarily remove all unsourced entries unless we have an article on the dog. At the moment the page is just a morass of unsourced WP:TRIVIA, and far from encyclopaedic in its scope. SkrikerandTrash, my inclination would be to remove it. Baillie
[edit]Baillie redirects to an unrelated page and I'm not knowledgable enough to fix it 2600:6C40:7100:3558:2C4A:B897:4D5B:D884 (talk) 01:55, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
